The Republic of Rwanda, located in Central Africa, is a landlocked nation. It is a member of the World Trade Organization and several other international organizations. The economy of Rwanda is heavily dependant on agriculture and most of the population is engaged in farming. Main crops are corn (maize), potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, dry beans, plantains, sorghum, coffee, tea, tobacco and pyrethrum. The country also has some deposits of mineral resources and they include tin and tungsten, tantalite, columbite and beryl. Main industries are agricultural products, soap, small-scale beverages, furniture, textiles, shoes, plastic goods, cement and cigarettes. |
